Huge thank you to Educare

Educare Whangarei have kindly sponsored readers for our school.  These books are to be used with students who find reading a challenge.  They are interesting, colourful and high interest readers that encourage students to get reading.  A huge thank you to Educare for their continual support.

Annual Expo Evening

Parents, caregivers and community members were invited to attend our annual expo, put on by the specialist teachers in the school. Performances, food and exhibitions were on display so students could show their families/whanau what they have been learning about during specialist time.

This was a lovely evening that really showcased the skills and expertise of our students.

AIM GAMES 2016

Whangarei Intermediate continues to excel with our best medal haul yet this year for AIMS games 2016. 80 students, competing in 11 different disciplines, travelled down to Tauranga ready, after weeks of hard training, to face off against opposing schools and teams from all over New Zealand.

All contestants did extremely well, putting all they had on the line in a hard struggle for victory. Clearly it was enough as the final outcome left us with three medals; a gold, a silver, and a bronze.

Daniel Hammond performed exceptionally, placing third in boys’ singles tennis for the whole of New Zealand. Ryan Townsend, in a display of amazing prowess and agility, placed second in the gymsports, receiving his silver medal with pride.

The gold medal was earned by our 6-aside hockey team, who went undefeated through 7 tough games to become national champions. All this could not have been achieved without the amazing help and support of all the parents and coaches who came down with us, and of course, our amazing chefs for the week, Lance Warmington and Michelle Heta.

Wearable Arts

Wearable Arts in in full swing again this year.  Mrs Walker will again be leading this enrichment, meeting with enthusiastic students to help design and create their creations for 2017.
If you are interested in helping with this enrichment, which meets every Friday at 11am, please contact the school office.

Last years entries showing off their designs for the school assembly.
