Welcome to Whangarei Intermediate School
E nga mana. E nga reo. E nga karangaranga maha.
Tena koutou katoa. Tihei Mauri Ora. My warm greetings to children, parents, caregivers, whanau and especially to those considering enrolment at Whangarei Intermediate School. Read on to see how WIS meets the needs of young adolescents, their learning and growing through the exciting intermediate years. Following are statements of our intentions:
Our school vision: Tirohanga
Whangarei Intermediate Students are:
Well balanced:
Inquiring:
Successful:
Through developing and maintaining strong relationships, knowledge can be found which will allow the learner to stand with confidence.
School Mission Statement To create a positive, caring, learning community that enables students and teachers to realise individual potential.
School Tirohanga: Values and Key Competencies
Maa te Whanaungatanga ~ Through developing and maintaining strong relationships
Ka Whai Maatauranga te Akonga ~ knowledge and understanding can be acquired
Ka tuu Rangatira ~ which will allow the learner to stand with confidence
Our expectation is that everyone in our school - students, staff and whanau are committed to learning all the time and from each other. At WIS we want to break through any limitations that may hinder our students from excelling in their learning and developing as people. We promote a problem-solving culture in our school that works and promotes a ‘can-do’ attitude. We tell our students that having high expectations means being certain that all of us can learn and improve - no exceptions! Of course, this website can only give a taste of our school, so I invite you to come and visit Whangarei Intermediate School. We would be happy to show you around the school so that you can see it in action and feel the pulse of a school with a strong sense of its purpose and to see our students in action.
Kia ü ki te pai. Whatever you do, let it be your best. Success Crowns Effort! Karaunatia Te Kaha i Te Tutuki Pai.
