Te Whānau o Parihaka
Te Whānau o Parihaka is made up of four classrooms. They are the green team with rooms 19, 20, 21, & 22 as their team.
Room 19 Foods in the Future
Room 19 have been reading about food in the future and how we will probably be eating insects instead of livestock, due to habitats and fields dying so fast and the expected population climbing to 9.8 billion. So we decided to see what it would be like and what we can make out of eating insects. Room 19 read an article on how livestock take up too much room and farming resources, when clearly insects don't. People are realising how critically this will be affecting our future. Children are going to find the future to be a rough place if we continue killing the planet. After reading the article Mrs Hedley decided to order some Cricket flour so that we could create our own Cricket and Chocolate Chip biscuits. We all brought our own ingredients and Mrs Hedley chipped in and brought some ingredients as well. We set up our working spaces next to the cooking room and started creating our Cricket Cookies with the help of a recipe Mrs Hedley had given us.
Room 22 Learning to play Wheelchair Turbo Touch
Ruma 22 played wheelchair turbo touch this afternoon. Had heaps of fun and they got an idea of what some people who are less fortunate than them deal with on a day to day basis!
